Superhero Costumes in Film: 5 That Were Awesome and 5 That Sucked

4. The Watchmen - Watchmen (2009)

Admittedly, this entry is more a celebration of a collection of costumes than of any one in particular. The success of The Watchmen's costumes stems from their realism. In fact, labelling these costumes as such feels almost improper. More accurately, they should be described as uniforms; a sort of eccentric police, if you will. Fittingly, this 'police' vibe accentuates the chaos that surrounds the storyline. The Comedian aside, each member has its own agenda when promoting the good cause; for the most part, this means following the path of the anti-hero. Each costume mirrors this lack of conventional heroism through the explicit lack of colour. Yet, for a costume appreciator, the relevance of this is a little less insightful; it simply allows them to appear really cool. The only real complaint to be made of The Watchmen's attire concerns their lack of. Or, rather, Dr Manhattan's frequent lack of; a sight all would have benefited from having not seen.
