3. Spider-Man - Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Frequently credited as Marvel's greatest and most popular superhero, the weight that surrounds all things Spider-Man can, at times, be overwhelming. For many visionaries, this weight crushes them; they begin overcomplicating story lines, prioritising vast scenic shots over pivotal character development, or, worst of all, they tinker with the costume. The beauty of Spidey's characteristic costume is seen in its simplicity. Spider-Man doesn't require any high-tech gadgetry or physical aids, his sheer magnificence speaks volumes of itself. This is why it is the Sam Raimi edition, and not the Marc Webb version, that ultimately has fans foaming at the mouth. Andrew Garfield, eat your heart out.
