Gunn also gleefully invokes countless fictional in-universe brands which have been featured throughout the history of DC, as will surely make devoted comic book readers smile.
Jitters Coffee, a caffeine chain which sprung up in Central City and is best associated with The Flash, can be seen at one point, while during Supes' battle with a kaiju, signs for DC's pre-eminent fast food chain Big Belly Burger can also be seen.
Elsewhere adverts for competing DC soft drink brands Zesti Cola and Soder Cola are visible, as is a sign for Martian Munhunter's favourite Oreo-like biscuit Chocos, while GBS News - which was first introduced in Creature Commandos - delivers reports throughout the movie.
Oh, and when the action spills into an empty baseball stadium in the third act, we can see signage for the Metropolis Meteors baseball team, while in Clark's bedroom a flag for the Smallville Giants American football team is hanging on the wall.
Individually these are small touches, but collectively they help flesh out the DCU and make it feel a little more lived-in.
