Superman: 20 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

14. Stephen Blackehart

Superman
Warner Bros.

Lex Luthor's most prominent lackey throughout the film is scientist Sydney Happersen - a character who has existed in the Superman comics for decades, and is played here by actor Stephen Blackehart.

Blackehart's casting might amuse die-hard James Gunn fans given that Blackehart is a good friend of the director's and seemingly something of a good luck charm, having played a small role in just about every major project he's produced, even dating back to 1996's Tromeo and Juliet, which Gunn co-wrote.

Most notably, he previously played Knowhere dispatcher Steemie Blueliver in the first and third Guardians of the Galaxy movies, while in the second Guardians he played the Ravager known as Brahl.

On the DC side, he also played helicopter pilot Briscoe in The Suicide Squad, and voiced Charlie the Gorilla in an episode of Peacemaker's first season.
