8. Man Of Steel Cast Are Confirmed
Warner Brothers have confirmed that Henry Cavill will return as Superman, Amy Adams will be returning as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishbourne will return as Perry White and Diane Lane will be returning as Martha Kent. This is welcome news given the range of good performances throughout that film, and provides a welcome counterpoint of continuity against the unavoidable recasting of Batman. Hopefully Adams will be given a deeper role as Lois Lane, as she is a talented actress who could certainly explore new avenues with the character. Millions of words have been written about the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman so we shan't analyse the casting decision too deeply here-it's one which you will either be for or against until Affleck actually appears onscreen in the cowl. Another actor who definitely won't make the transition from the Nolan films is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has confirmed that he won't be reprising his role as Robin John Blake from The Dark Knight Rises. As the character wasn't explicitly Robin, this has no influence on whether we'll see The Boy Wonder in Superman V Batman. As yet, there is no word on other characters such as Jim Gordon appearing. As for the rest of the cast, Warner Brothers have been strictly tight-lipped, although there are rumours floating around that there may well be a love interest for Batman. I have to say that I feel a love interest adds little to the Batman persona, so traditionally a tortured lone wolf. Is it something for the ladies? Is it so Bruce Wayne seems more nuanced as a man? Is it even true? We shall wait with baited breath for more concrete news on this one.
