3. Nobody 2
This follow-up to 2021's Bob Odenkirk-starring action-thriller Nobody was released with suspiciously minimal marketing, enough to convince many that Universal knew they had a dud on their hands and were quietly sending it out to die.
Yet Nobody 2 was actually a more-than-worthy follow-up, elevated by the smart decision to hire Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us) as director.
Tjahjanto's knack for ultra-violent carnage speaks for itself and made him a perfect fit for the Nobody franchise, while rather than wholly rehash the original John Wick-inspired setup, it shifts into a more colourful and comedic gear as the mayhem moves to a vacation setting.
While perhaps more rough around the edges than its predecessor, there's an agreeable, charming messiness to Nobody 2 that's tough to resist, though due to the sequel underperforming commercially, it sadly seems unlikely we'll get a third go-around.
