20 Recent Movie Sequels We Were ALL Wrong About

The annals of cinema are littered with the corpses of so many terrible belated comedy sequels that it's difficult to be optimistic about any of them, even when basically all the creative forces involved with the original are back.

That was certainly true of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which was rather quietly released last year as if to suggest it was being buried out of embarrassment - a very real prospect considering the 41 years it took to get the sequel made.

But while Spinal Tap II doesn't hold a candle to the original, it is a surprisingly decent follow-up that makes the most of its returning cast, delivering a nostalgic treat with a sturdy gag rate to boot.

Did it need to happen? No, but as a victory lap for the cast and director Rob Reiner, in what would tragically be his final film, it's a worthy companion to its classic predecessor.
