5. Seriously Red

Spin Me Round
The Dollhouse Pictures

A dissatisfied realtor, Red (writer-star Krew Boylan), decides to become a Dolly Parton impersonator in this straightforward yet charming Aussie dramedy.

Sure to be of considerable interest to Parton fans but also playing well for those mostly unfamiliar with her, Seriously Red is a character study that touches on themes of identity and happiness in an amusingly left-field way.

Character actress Boylan gives a remarkable performance in the lead role, while audiences should get a major kick out of supporting turns from Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne as Neil Diamond and Elvis impersonators respectively.

Though more conventional than its premise might suggest, Seriously Red is a wholesome good time packed with just enough weirdness to satisfy.

Seriously Red is currently seeking distribution.
