Terminator: Dark Fate - 5 Big Questions We're Left With

4. Who Creates Legion (And How Can It Be Stopped)?

One of the film's huge bombshells came when Grace revealed that Skynet never existed and that, instead, the AI that birthed the Terminators and the end of the world was known as Legion. That may have come as a shock to most viewers but when you really think about it, it actually makes sense.

After all, Cyberdyne created Skynet and, with Sarah, John and the 'Uncle Bob' T-800 having destroyed all of Miles Dyson's work (and the relics from the original Terminator) in the '90s, the company never got the chance to create any killer machines.

But while that solves the mystery of Skynet's disappearance, it does leave us with another mystery: With Cyberdyne out of the way, who created Legion and, more importantly, how on earth did they manage to replicate Terminators from a timeline that no longer exists?

If we are to believe that Terminator: Dark Fate is indeed the first of a new trilogy, that makes this one The Terminator of the bunch - setting up the new story by introducing the new saviour to the barbaric future that awaits them. With that in mind, the next one (if there is a next one) could very well adopt T2's approach of having Dani and Sarah fight back against the future. If that is the case, who do they target? And without Grace around to inform them, how will they know what awaits (and when its supposed to happen)?
