Terminator: Dark Fate Trailer 2 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs
3. It Doesn't Give Away The Whole Story
Why does Sarah want to kill The Terminator? Why is this new girl suddenly the target? Where is John Connor (you read that one in Arnie's voice, didn't you?)?
The trailer may have given us a lot of insight into Dark Fate's plot, but it did so in a way that left us with more questions than answers. We know more, but we don't know everything - and that's key to keeping us interested.
For all its flaws, Terminator Genisys had one hell of a twist up its sleeve with John Connor's defection to Skynet... or at least it would have if the trailer hadn't spoiled the whole thing. Since then, a ton of movie trailers have taken it upon themselves to spoil their respective films for the audiences which, in all honesty, it completely baffling.
With Terminator: Dark Fate's release almost upon us, we've entered a kind of full-circle moment and, at the very least, it looks like Paramount has learned from its mistakes with the previous offering's trailer. Let's just hope that it has done the same with the actual movie.
