2. A Refreshing New Story (With Shades Of The Old One)

"If you don't make it, everybody dies!" newcomer Grace shouts as she attempts to rescue Dani from the bloodthirsty Rev-9, and that is a line that will undoubtedly incite a bittersweet feeling for the audience. In many ways, it's reminiscent of the John Connor-centric story that has grounded all five Terminator movies, but it also allows this one to stand apart from them.

This new trailer confirms what many of us had begun to speculate, and that is that it's more of a legacy sequel than anything else. The Terminators aren't here to protect and/or kill John Connor anymore, they're here for Dani because, for some reason, she is now the saviour of mankind.

However, that won't stop the legend that is Sarah Connor from getting involved in the story, as she utilises it as an opportunity to save the future one more time and, in the process, kill every last "metal motherf*cker" she can get her hands on.

Dark Fate appears to be doing something similar to what the recent Halloween reboot did in that it's using its past to set up a new story and that, at the very least, differentiates it from T3, Salvation and Genisys. This time, however, we'll find out just how inevitable Judgment Day really is.
