Terminator Genisys: 10 Iconic Moments It Must Revisit
2. Its No Sacrifice
What is every Terminator film duty-bound to include? Well, Arnie (that one pretty much goes without saying), preferably astride a motorcycle and sporting sunglasses and leathers, one or more evil cyborgs, a Connor or two, Brad Fiedels propulsive score and a heavy dose of heart-in-mouth action. That about covers most of the essential ingredients, but theres at least one more trope that pops up time and again: a touching moment of self-sacrifice. Michael Biehns Reese went head-to-head with the original T-800 to buy Sarah a few valuable seconds, Arnies good terminator took a bath in molten steel to save the human race in T2, Terminator 3 saw another T-800 protector use his nuclear power cell to stop the T-X, and Terminator Salvations Marcus Wright become an organ donor to save John Connors life. So whos going to put their life on the line this time? The smart money says Arnie will again take up sacrificial lamb duties, as evidenced by his ingenious method of taking down an enemy chopper in the trailers closing moments, but he might not be the only one. Selfless soldier Reese in back in action and presumably all too willing to put his life on the line again, and even Sarah could get in on the act this time. Regardless of who ultimately gets the honours, it's a lock that at least one character wont survive the third act.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
