Terminator Genisys: 10 Iconic Moments It Must Revisit
3. Lets Get It On
With its timeline-trouncing reset of franchise mythology and already-controversial story choices, Terminator Genisys is set to rile some diehard fans and cause no end of head scratching and paradox paranoia. Genisys could be the first in a new series of Terminator films if all goes well, but Paramount would do well to not get too far ahead of themselves in that regard. The decision to have Kyle Reese arrive in an alternate 1984 where Sarah Connor is already aware of her future is a bold one with huge ramifications for the overall story, not least because it complicates one of the franchises most crucial plot elements, i.e. John Connors conception. The Terminator saw an infatuated Reese sent back in time by John Connor, whose very existence depends on his stalwart soldier making the right impression on his mother Sarah. This is one of the most intriguing aspects of the new timeline, and it will be fascinating to see how the filmmakers broach a fundamental part of Terminator lore. Its impossible for Genisys to avoid this altogether and a romantic subplot is all but guaranteed. As such, a callback of sorts to the motel tryst from the first film is very much on the cards, although the early footage suggests Genisys will do a nice line in subverting expectations.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
