Terminator Genisys: 10 Reasons It Could Surprise Everyone
2. James Cameron Seal Of Approval
“I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance. You look at why the films became classics. They had characters that you like. In the new film – which in my mind I think of as the third film – we see Arnold take the character even farther.”
James Cameron is not a man to mince words. So, as the visionary behind the first two classic entries in the series, when he says that this movie feels like Terminator 3, we should be inclined to believe him. Terminator is his baby and since he had no involvement in this film, he presumably has no reason to lie.
After all, he was just as forthcoming when Terminator Salvation came out but far less positive, lamenting that film’s inability to do something new and inventive. This suggests that he would have spoken out the same way had he not enjoyed Genisys.
Surely Cameron’s views will be biased, but the fact that he’s standing behind this film in a way he hadn’t before with the sequels suggests that there has to be at least something good there.
