Terminator Reboot: 5 Reasons Why It Will Inevitably Suck

5. It€™s A Reboot

Terminator Salvation After all the initial statements that the next Terminator movie was going to be a return to form, we all thought it would be the proper, adult sequel that fans had waited for since the Terminator 2 end credits started rolling in the early '90s. The nightmares that were Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and Salvation were going to be jettisoned from memory. But now it has pretty much been confirmed that the film will be a reboot of the original film. Yet another reboot from Hollywood, because it€™s easier than coming up with an original story. Nothing sells box office tickets like nostalgia. They have already put themselves in an upward struggle, as audiences will be comparing the reboot to the much-loved original - it's already lost. It might be an OK film, but very few will say it bettered James Cameron€™s 1984 original, so what's the point in making it as such? Take any attempted reboot from the last 10 years and you'll see that very few have lived up to expectations. But the next film will have a new Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and John Connor. The only original returning face is Arnold Schwarzenegger, which begs the point - if they are going for a full reboot, why then bring back Schwarzenegger? It will make it even harder for the new film to distinguish itself from the original. Recasting classic characters, especially those as iconic as Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, is risky. If it's not done right, the film will be driving with flat tires from the get-go. They should have written a proper sequel or an original story altogether; not try to redo the original or T2.
