The 10 Best Summer Blockbuster Films Of 2013

3. Elysium

Elysium Neill Blomkamp€™s much eagerly anticipated follow up to the Oscar nominated District 9 embodied everything we loved it about and more. Elysium boasts an intriguing science fiction premise full of possible futuristic social commentary whilst never forgetting that it€™s first and foremost a big budget Hollywood action epic. In an age where numerous Hollywood blockbusters are one by one suffering a disconcerting fate of being watered down, it€™s just relentlessly refreshing to watch a movie that showcases a grenade blowing an entire face off without shying away from gore. We need more R rated and mature driven blockbusters which is everything Elysium represents. Go see Elysium, not watered down crap like the inevitable 2014 imagining of Robocop is confirmed to be. Send a message that there is room for big budget R rated films too.
