The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 10 Reasons It Will Live Up To The Hype

4. Andrew Garfield

amazing spiderman 22 Don't get me wrong, Tobey Maguire back from 2002 to 2007 as Spider Man was great. He delivered a shy, obnoxious, and often times awkward Peter Parker that fit with Sam Raimi's ultimate vision. Even still, something felt out of place or missing. Maybe it was the accuracy of the exact character's origin story and attitude, or the half-assed attempts at exemplifying Peter's scientific skill set. Whatever it was that was missing over ten years ago has been found with Andrew Garfield. No matter what anyone says about him or his interpretation, I see Andrew Garfield as the perfect Peter Parker/Spider-Man. At first I really didn't know who he was or what he was involved with prior to The Amazing Spider-Man, but I held on to my hopes. And within the first 20-30 minutes of the film, I knew Marc Webb found the successor to Toby Maguire, or more importantly the heir to the Spider-Man throne. Andrew's ability to sink within his character and portray the proper version of Peter Parker (a snarky, trash-talking, nerdy, shy, hard-nosed teenager) was far beyond what anyone could have expected. I was easily blown away by the connection he had with Peter, and even more blown away when he became Spider-Man. He has the God-given talent to literally be actual thing. For the sequel it's obviously apparent that his version of Peter Parker will be well suited into the role of Spider-Man, defending the city and confronting bigger obstacles and challenges that will push his skills and personality to its utter limits. And seeing Andrew Garfield returning to continue this journey only makes it sweeter for the fans, me included. I'm dying to see what Andrew does differently in the sequel, with Peter's refined attitude now that he's become an icon and ass-kicker. And the continuing chemistry between him and Emma Stone only makes it more worth while to wait for its release.
