The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 10 Reasons It Will Live Up To The Hype

3. The Humour

amazing spiderman 2 For a comic book superhero, Spider-Man is perhaps one of the most intelligently hilarious heroes out there. His defiant attitude and razor sharp lends to his ability to cramp the bellies of viewers and readers alike. The Amazing Spider-Man was revived with a unique blend of humour and witty banter between characters like Peter and Gwen, and even Peter's aunt and uncle. They each had their moments to reveal the light-hearted approach of the film, and why they're so lovable. Even the humorous part where Peter first discovers his powers and unknowingly breaks up a conflict between him and some rough-house pedestrians in a subway train shows the simple manner the writers and Marc Webb took to connect with an audience that not only understands Peter Parker as a character, but as a symbol of hilarity also. So it's no surprise that the humour will return in TASM2, maybe even increased a little. The reveal footage played at ComicCon 2013 showed a small taste of the antics Peter will pull off as Spider-Man, with the first half of the footage essentially having him fool around with Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti) and firmly growing into his alter ego so much that his attitude takes a stark turn for the funnier with dialogue between Max Dillon pre-Electro and his Aunt May. And the humorous parts revealed only strengthen the prospect of what's to come. In some response videos to the ComicCon footage, people have complained that the humour felt "clumsy" and "not really clever", because they believed it felt a little too immature for Peter Parker/Spider-Man. To them, I say this: that is his character. What we see in that footage is exactly the Spider Man we've known over the past several decades. And I believe that with TASM2, we will see an incarnation of Spider Man's funny side that will be tough to beat in the long run.
