The Amazing Spider-Man: 5 Questions We Still Want Answered

1. Lizard-Rat? What? WHAT?!?

As I mentioned before, Connors creates a chemical that mixes DNA to improve life, or so it should. But then, if everything went well, we wouldn't have a movie, would we? Thus, one of the first "victims" of the scientist's devious scheming is a lab rat, which quickly regrows a limb that was probably cut off by Connors in the first place. At first, we're led to believe that this is some sort of scientific miracle. But, about halfway through the film, we are shown some sort of horrifying (i.e. hilarious) combination of rat and lizard. Parker just sort of stumbles across it in Connors' lab, prompting it to run away. After this, it's never seen again. What happened to it? Where did it go? Was it with all of those exotic lizards in the sewers? If so, was it ever cured, or did it avoid the antidote by hiding underground? In fact, now that I think about it, where did those lizards come from in the first place? Did they escape from a pet shop? A zoo? Why were they all hanging out with Connors? Was there some sort of thematic relevance to it? Was it like a visual motif? Was Connors controlling them? Was he planning to actually do something with them, or did he just like them around for the company? Okay, so maybe some questions will never be answered, at least, not for now. Overall, The Amazing Spider-Man is a good film, and I actually recommend that you watch it, that is, if you're looking for some good old popcorn action flick, with some thoughtfulness sprinkled throughout. Just don't try to think too much while watching it.
