The Avengers 3: 5 Marvel Heroes and Who Will Play Them

3. Wasp

Janet van Dyne, Hank Pym€™s wife is almost guaranteed to at least appear in the Ant Man movie (it would be silly not to include her) and Joss Whedon tried to include her in the first Avengers film but failed due to time constraints so this is a MUST for the next sequel (or at least the third film). She has similar powers to Ant Man. She can fly with the help of insect wings (hence the name), shrink to a tiny size and grow to a gigantic size, and she also has the added ability of being able to fire energy blasts. How both Ant Man and Wasp will look up against the other Avengers in battle in the films is difficult to imagine€ but it€™s certainly an interesting thought. Hopefully Edgar Wright can pull it off. In the comics, she was originally a quite shallow character, who frequently commented on how attractive she found Thor to be in order to make her boyfriend, Ant Man, mad. An interesting dynamic which could be used for the future films. Who Will Play Her: Morena Baccarin of Homeland and Firefly fame is a likely choice. Again, not only does she really look the part, but she is currently in one of the most critically acclaimed television series€™ of all time, has major geek cred due to Firefly, and we all know how much Joss Whedon must love her. This would be a great chance for the actress to €œspread her wings€ and make it in the land of movies. Rumored for this part years ago, actually apparently going out and buying comics in research for the role was Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame. But her fame is dwindling now that Housewives is off the air, and apart from her attractiveness, the show was never a big draw for men (like Homeland is) and as sad as it sounds, is maybe considered too girly for the films. But really, I just couldn€™t imagine her in the role against the other Avengers, and Morena Baccarin is the much more current choice with a lot more science fiction experience and better acting abilities in dramatic roles. Still, perhaps they will pick someone a little more famous like Eva Mendes, Rachel Weisz (also rumored for Catwoman) or Keira Knightly. There are a lot of possible choices.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
