The Avengers Earns $700 Million And Isn't Slowing Down

To say that the general concencus for 'The Avengers' was going to be a global smash, I don't think anyone had really prepared themselves for how quickly it was going to instill global domination. Marvel's 'The Avengers' has only been released for a mere thirteen days, yet it has already been anhialating its competition. Within such a short time it has racked up a gigantic total of $702.2 million worldwide. In this total, $475.8 million is made up of international box office sales and $226.4 million from sales in the USA. When you consider that USA only first had the chance to lay eyes on our intergerlactic heroes on May 4th, they're really showing that all the anticipation and hype was worth it. Just yesterday we reported that 'The Avenger's has smashed US. box offices, taking over $200 million in it's opening weekend. At that point in time it's worldwide gross was just over $600 million. After it's surge, it has now passed 'Captain America: The First Avenger' ($364 million), 'Thor' ($449 million), 'Iron Man' ($585 million) and 'Iron Man 2' ($624 million) in global box office sales. At this point in time it really seems that nothing can stop this behemoth of a film from going the distance. Not even the Chitauri (bad luck Loki).
