The Batman: 10 DC Comics Villains Perfect For Matt Reeves' Sequel
4. Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow)
Hallucinations have great potential to be terrifying in film. Combine that with Matt Reeves' brilliance as a visually focused director, and there are endless opportunities for what could appear on screen.
Jonathan Crane's use of hallucinogenic drugs could be more dangerous than ever in the hands of the Planet of the Apes director. Crane could conjure up nightmarish scenes for fans to witness and for Bats to experience. Beyond that, there is the possibility for the audience's sense of reality to be tampered with. Reeves has the strengths as a director to not let ideas get out of hand, but to still push them to their limits. Scarecrow would allow for reality to be bent without compromising realism and believability.
Having Bruce psychologically battle his inner demons would give fans a deeper look at the character of the Dark Knight. They could see him in a way that has not yet been shown on the big screen. The film could be pushed toward the genre of psychological thriller or even psychological horror. It presents a fantastic opportunity for the Batman to be reinvented.
