One of the most burning questions surrounding The Batman is who will serve as its villains? Or at least it will be once the Batfleck uncertainty is resolved.

Deathstroke was at one point attached and there's strong evidence to suggest Beauty and the Beast star Josh Gad is being lined up for The Penguin - he's been pictured on social media with DC honchos Geoff Johns and Jon Berg holding an illustration of the iconic villain.

That's at least two bad guys who could line up alongside one another, but a report by Birth.Death.Movies suggests Arkham Asylum might have to free up some cell space when The Batman arrives.

The website's sources claim the film will be "packed with Bat villains", adding that "just about every major bad guy you’ve ever wanted to see in a movie" will make the cut.

There are certainty Dark Knight foes who would benefit from on-screen reinvention, including The Riddler, Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy, villains who haven't been treated particularly well by Hollywood in the past.

Perhaps The Batman could deal with a mass breakout at Arkham, which requires the Caped Crusader to use every inch of his detective nouse to track down the escaped inmates and uncover who was behind their liberation.
