The Batman: 10 Things We Need To See In Matt Reeves' Reboot

9. Batman And Catwoman's Relationship

The Batman Hush
DC Comics

Batman and Catwoman have had a long history together in the comics, going from as simple as flirtation, to as far as a marriage proposal. Their relationship adds a depth to Batman that is unique in the comics and often handled poorly in films. While Selina Kyle and the relationship between the two is touched on in the last segment of Nolan’s trilogy, the romance felt shoehorned in to provide Bruce with a happy ending.

Reeves’s reboot has an opportunity to address the relationship in a better way, introducing it from the beginning and building the dynamic between the characters. It is important to note who Selina Kyle is, not to Bruce Wayne, but to Batman.

The two have often teamed up in the past and, while the pair knows who each other are under their respective masks, their relationship extends into the Batman identity. This dynamic allows for the elimination of the identity duality and struggle presented by most other romantic interests presented on-screen.
