The Batman: 10 Things We Need To See In Matt Reeves' Reboot

6. Less Gadgets

Batman is known for his gadgets in both comics and film. From the Batmobile, to in-suit technology, to various weapons that look a lot like guns but aren’t guns, because Batman doesn’t use guns (except, he totally has used guns on many occasions on-screen), Batman seemingly has a gadget for every occasion. At best, the inclusion of these gadgets can feel like shoehorning; at worst, they can border on ex-machina territory.

However, if the arsenal were simplified, it would provide an opportunity to show off more of Batman’s deductive abilities, and his genius-level intellect, instead of relying on tech. While, arguably, the inclusion of tech is already a means to show Batman’s intellect (seeing as he designed most of his tech himself), removing the overuse of gadgets could add a level of suspense to any seemingly impossible situation.

Simply put, we need a little less Die Another Day, and more Skyfall.
