The Batman: 14 Huge Reveals From The Batsuit & Batmobile Images

5. The Batmobile Reference Points

We've already seen a LOT of criticism of the Batmobile - largely from people who seem to believe that Nolan and Snyder using tanks means Batman's car has ALWAYS been a tank (or blinkered Snyder-or-die fans who can't see any positives at all). But Batman's been in a car for years.

In fact, in the comics, he's been in a fairly conventional looking car in arguably more stories than he's been in something more "silly." In short, it WILL be comics accurate.

This will not appease everyone, of course, but here we are. Such is fandom in 2020.

Anyway, those comics cars aren't the only reference points we need to talk about. The impressive boosters added to the engine definitely feel like a nod to the Animated Series Batmobile, for a start.

And overall, if we're looking for one SPECIFIC Batmobile this one draws from more than any, it's probably the one above from Francesco Francavilla's unused "Batsploitation"/Elseworlds concept Batman 1972.

And while lots of people have HILARIOUSLY said that the Batmobile looks like a Fast & Furious car, it's actually Mad Max who probably offers more of a reference point, given the similarities in his iconic car and this new Batmobile...

Come to think of it, that Ford Falcon Interceptor shape is a lot like the Batmobile in general. So it's probably fair to say we're looking at something between that and the Dodge.
