The Batman: 15 Details You Missed The First Time

6. Hush

The Batman Riddler
Warner Bros.

One of the film's big twists involves the Riddler claiming that Thomas Wayne hired Carmine Falcone to murder a reporter, Edward Elliot, who was planning to publish a report about Martha Wayne's mental health struggles.

The Riddler also explains that Wayne previously tried to silence Elliot with a "hush money agreement," moments before the word "hush!" is displayed on screen for around a second.

While we can't know for sure what Matt Reeves is planning for The Batman's sequel, this all seems to pretty implicitly set up the existence of the iconic comic book villain Hush, who is a super-genius, surgeon, and master of disguise.

Given that Hush's real name in the comics is Thomas Elliot, fans have already speculated that in a future film he could turn out to be the son of slain reporter Edward Elliot and who pines for revenge against Thomas Wayne's descendant.
