It's been 25 years since Robin has featured in a Batman movie not counting Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake, and it's about time the boy wonder was given a proper portrayal on the big screen. With The Batman, Matt Reeves may well be the director to do it.
According to a Forbes report from before any castings were made official, DC's Nightwing project has been put on hold so the character can be used in The Batman. Depicting how Dick Grayson came to be the dark knight's sidekick, and ultimately Nightwing, would be an incredible subplot to Pattinson's first solo outing as the character.
Though the report claims the character may appear further down the line in Reeves' planned trilogy, this is something that deserves to be given the proper attention, potentially even spanning across several movies. This kind of character development could be what makes this new potential iteration of Robin one of the best ever.
