The Batman: Every Character Confirmed So Far (And 5 Rumoured Ones)

It wouldn't be much of a Batman movie without the Caped Crusader himself now, would it? Matt Reeves' movie will be the first solo Batman flick since the Dark Knight Rises in 2012, unless you count Lego Batman, and will add Robert Pattinson to the ranks of actors to bring the super hero to life.

There were certainly mixed responses to the casting announcement, as Pattinson reportedly beat Nicholas Hoult to the role, with many questioning whether the man who played Edward Cullen and Cedric Diggory would make a strong Bruce Wayne. However, there were similar reservations about Heath Ledger before the Dark Knight in 2008, and that turned out to be one of the greatest castings in comic book movie history.

With Reeves set to focus his first Batman outing on the detective side of the character, something that has been used only sparingly in the past, Pattinson's noir inspired iteration of the dark knight promises to be different from anything we've seen before.

Where Batman has made his way onto crime scenes and had to track down criminals in the past, there has never been anything to justify his moniker of 'World's Greatest Detective'. Hopefully Reeves and Pattinson will do justice to the character, and give us a Batman to be excited about for the foreseeable future.
