The Batman Movie Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs

1. Michael Giacchino's Phenomenal Musical Score

The Batman
Warner Bros.

Last but certainly not least we have an incredible musical score from Michael Giacchino, who adds a bevy of outstanding music to Batman's cinematic canon.

Given the brilliance of Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and James Newton Howard's previous Batman scores, Giacchino certainly had a lot to live up to, but has managed to deliver a haunting suite of tracks that feel totally singular.

There's an elegant simplicity to the central Batman leitmotif in the movie - it's immediately catchy and yet accentuated by an intoxicating slow-build in the score's seven-minute title track.

But it's not all dour and grim - there are some fantastic orchestral sweeps that sound practically romantic, ensuring Giacchino's score is as diverse and dynamic as it is unforgettable.
