The Batman Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

1. That Final Action Scene

Again, this isn't some fast-paced action romp by any means. However, The Batman does have action scenes. It's a bloody superhero movie - of course there's gonna be some chaos. Reeves is smart enough to hold back on most of it until a show-closing series of events that will leave every fanboy/girl buzzing.

The final action set piece makes that earlier introspection worth ploughing through.

The movie finally lets loose and turns Pattinson into the Bat everyone knows and loves when it counts. Gamers will recall those "predator" moments in games like Arkham Asylum and Arkham City; this is that in film form, and it's glorious to witness. The 'Dark Knight' unleashed is still one of the best sights in cinema.

Being honest, almost everything beforehand comes across as a tease for moments like it. Credit must go to Pattinson for defying expectations to play Batman properly too. He's gritty, tense, angry and majestic all at once.
