The Batman Solo Movie: Everything You Need To Know

6. Filming Will Not Begin In 2017

Variety's Justin Kroll recently sent out a pair of tweets that don't give us a firm release date for the film, but they do give us a firm production start window.

Firstly, the reporter said that he's heard director Matt Reeves is contracted to work on War For The Planet Of The Apes until the end of June, which dismisses any prior rumours that The Batman would begin filming this summer.

He followed that up with another tweet claiming that any casting information that may be floating around is not true, since the director won't be able to meet with any actors until his work on the Apes sequel is finished.

Kroll isn't one to inflate rumours or blow hot air, but even if these tweets came from a member of a less-prestigious publication, it would be hard to deny that they make sense.

War For The Planet Of The Apes is set for release on July 14, and in the days leading up to and following on from that, Reeves will be on the film's promotional tour. Once that busy period has died down, he may want to take a couple of weeks off to spend with his family.

So it will probably be August before he fully turns his attention to pre-production on The Batman, making a 2017 filming start date borderline impossible.

Rather, filming is more likely to begin in the first half of 2018, making a 2019 release date a solid guess.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
