The Batman Solo Movie: Everything You Need To Know
5. Affleck's Script Was Rewritten, And Could Be Scrapped Altogether
The script for The Batman was initially written by Affleck and Geoff Johns, and for the longest time, that's all we knew about the writing phase of the film.
But then, at the end of January, news broke that Affleck would no longer direct the film. Within this report, Deadline stated that a script rewrite was handed in by Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar in 2013 for penning Argo.
Mere days later, more news started swirling that the movie may be completely re-tooled from the ground up (including another full rewrite) once a new creative team - lead by a new director - has been put together.
And there's more! The tale received another twist when just a day after that 're-tooling' report began doing the rounds, Justin Kroll mentioned that everyone at Warner Bros. was "very happy" with the script that Terrio just turned in.
Holy confusing series of events, Batman.
To cap things off, the most recent update on the script came by way of /Film, whose sources informed them that the script is indeed being written from scratch - meaning everything that we've heard about the film's story so far (including Deathstroke's appearance) may no longer be in play.
In short, nobody truly knows what the status of the script is. But with a new director and his team coming onboard, it's not unreasonable to assume the story will change to fall more in line with Reeves' vision.
