The Batman Solo Movie: Everything You Need To Know

2. The Rumour Mill

Ben Affleck
Warner Bros.

As you'd expect with a production of this scale, plenty of rumours have been floating around that, while obviously unconfirmed, are still interesting enough to mention. As always, take the following with a pinch of salt!

The biggest (and most worrisome) came by way of Collider Video's John Campea, who mentioned that a couple of sources informed him that Affleck does not want to play Batman anymore. That means the solo Batman movie would mark the actor's third and final time as the character.

On a lighter note, a report from Batman On Film speculated that a good chunk of the film will be shot in Los Angeles, most likely at the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank. The decision to shoot here should mean the film will use more green screen and will look more stylized, closely resembling Zack Snyder's two movies as opposed to Christopher Nolan's grounded, street-level cinematography.

Moving onto the film's story, an interview with Geoff Johns (conducted by Entertainment Weekly) saw the comic-book veteran let slip that the graffitied Robin suit we saw in Batman v Superman would be explored further down the line, leading many to assume this would feature in a standalone Batman adventure.

Batman V Superman Robin Dead
Warner Bros.

This lines up with an earlier report from JoBlo that stated the solo Batman movie would be inspired by Under The Red Hood, a prolific comic-book storyline (and animated feature) that saw an angry Jason Todd return from the 'dead', under the guise of the Red Hood.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
