The Best Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked
10. You Only Live Twice: Volcano Battle
This unforgettable finale is definitely the crowning achievement of this Sean Connery Bond flick, although earlier set-pieces involving a gyrocopter and a fight between Bond and a henchman played by Dwayne Johnson's grandfather are very good too.
Located inside Blofeld's (Donald Pleasance) legendary evil lair, designed by Ken Adams and set within a volcano, this final battle is absolute madness.
An army of Japanese secret service agents, dressed as ninjas, attack the base in a beautifully choreographed and wonderfully ridiculous (in a good way) showdown. There's also some great suspense, as Blofeld's scheme is about set off WWIII and Bond only just manages to avert this (by destroying Blofeld's spacecraft, which is stealing US and Russian spaceships).
The way in which main Bond Girl Kissy Suzuki (Mie Hama) does nothing except for shoot one enemy goon, even though she's meant to be a secret service agent, is distracting but other than that, it's a very strong finale to this ludicrous, but delightful early Bond film.
