In 2019, Captain Marvel became the first female-led movie in the MCU, but nine months earlier Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne shared the spotlight with Scott Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Ever since the character's tease at the end of Ant-Man, fans had been waiting with bated breath for Hope's superheroic debut.

In the comics, Hope was a founding member of the Avengers, so expectations were high. Thankfully, her first appearance as the Wasp on the big screen did not disappoint, as attempting to build a quantum tunnel brought her and her father into the path of Sonny Burch and his criminal crew.

Like Scott, Hope had the ability to shrink and grow at will, but was also extremely dangerous in hand-to-hand combat and was aided by the ability to fly. Her first ever fight scene was like any Ant-Man scene from before, only better, as she announced herself as a true badass in the MCU.

The fight only got better once it reached the kitchen, as Hope had to dodge a meat tenderizer, used a giant salt shaker to block the door, and ran along the edge of a flying knife. The Ant-Man franchise has always had its own unique brand of fight sequences, and this was by far the best.
