The Best Moment Of Every MCU Film - Ranked

15. Trapped Under Rubble – Spider-Man: Homecoming

Giant Man War Machine Captain America Civil War
Marvel Studios

The MCU's version of Spider-Man is different to the previous two movie iterations of the character, in that we were never shown the infamous spider-bite. This is the origin of Peter's powers and strength, but we didn't need to see this to know just how strong he was.

Through his five MCU appearances, Peter Parker has proven over and over again just how strong he is, managing to hold a ferry together and stop a punch from the Winter Soldier to name just two, but no more so than after his brief discussion with Adrian Toomes toward the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The Vulture used his suit to bring an entire building down on top of Spider-Man, leaving him trapped under a tonne of rubble. Tom Holland's performance here is incredible, as the blind panic quickly fades and he is able to escape what would have been, for most people, certain death.

In this single scene pulled straight from the comics, Spider-Man showed how young and scared he was, while at the same time how amazingly strong he was as he inspired himself to escape. This was a defining moment for the character, and helped shape him into the Avenger he would soon become.
