13. Yondu’s Funeral – Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2

Giant Man War Machine Captain America Civil War
Marvel Studios

Much like the second Avengers movie, the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie expanded the team, adding a couple of new members to the roster. In this case, it was Yondu and Mantis who were welcomed to the titular team, though the former didn't live to see the end of the movie.

After agreeing a deal with Ego to essentially kidnap and deliver his children to him, Yondu broke the Ravager code and earned himself an ex-communication from the wider group. He was told by Stakar Ogord that he would never have a proper Ravager funeral when he died.

Between then and the final battle with Ego, however, Yondu took a heroic turn and joined the Guardians. Ego may have been Peter's father, but Yondu was his daddy and gave his own life to save that of his young protégé. The Ravagers were told of his actions by Rocket of all people, and the group returned to blast the Colours of Ogord in honour of their fallen brother, to the amazement and wonder of the Guardians and Kraglin.

Much like Frigga's funeral in The Dark World, this was nothing short of a spectacular send-off for the character, and is an incredibly emotional scene that is hard to watch without a lump in the throat.
