The Cloverfield Paradox: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

2. Implications For The Future

The most interesting part of Stambler's Paradox theory is that the dimensional rifts can affect anywhere on the timeline. We already have Overlord coming, whose action is set during World War II where American paratroopers land in France ahead of D Day and discover that the Nazis are using mysterious supernatural forces to help them try and win the war.

Presumably, that's an alternate reality to our own (in which the Nazis could possibly win the war through these supernatural means), but there's no guarantee that it isn't the same dimension as The Cloverfield Paradox is set in, given the seemingly volatile frictions between Germany and Russian, who remain world super-powers.

It's entirely possible that that reality saw the Nazis win the war and a Cold War between the two powers fester for years until the energy crisis kicked it off again.

The strangest and most exciting implication of Overlord is that the Nazis have learned to actually harness the supernatural forces that crossed over into their dimension, which changes the ideas introduced in The Cloverfield Paradox quite markedly and opens up lots of creative possibilities for JJ Abrams and his film-makers to potentially explore.
