The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

4. Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson Steal The Show (Again)

The one part of the movie that most everyone will agree works is the returning two-hander from Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as the Warrens.

Even in the film's most airless moments, their performances never falter, bringing gravitas and humanity to the fore at all times.

Farmiga naturally handles the heavy lifting where the set-pieces are concerned, while Wilson keeps the film tethered to the ground through his warmth and humanity.

Together their chemistry remains note-perfect, and though the script isn't as generous to them as in the two previous films, they still come out of this with their dignity in tact.

If we do indeed get a fourth Conjuring movie, it'll be because these stalwart actors have held things together throughout, even when the script doesn't measure up.
