10. Whatever Happened To Gordon After The Dark Knight?
In every Nolan film we see Jim Gordon having some sort of story-arc. In Batman Begins he was the only good cop left in a city filled with criminals and corruption, and how he tried to make Gotham a better place; in The Dark Knight, he was giving the best of him in order to fight what was left of the criminal scum in Gotham, the troubled relationship he had with Harvey Dent and how much the Joker screwed up things for everyone. In The Dark Knight Rises we see that he's considering retirement and...that's it. Don't get me wrong, it was kind-of interesting to see him dealing with living with a lie and how much he betrayed the laws he promised to protect. However at no point we see him going through some story arc in the movie, considering the time gap that happened between those movies, as well as some things that are addressed in the first part of the movie we should've seen more of what happened to Jim Gordon after the events in The Dark Knight. And for that matter, why don't we see what happened to him or how much it affected him Bane's insurrection in Gotham, I'll go a bit deeper on this subject later on this article but we only see him for a little portion of the movie when they're showing what was going on in Gotham at the time. What kind of things did he do? How did he manage to contact the government? How did he manage to gather an army to fight against Bane? There were many opportunities to give a good story-arc to Jim Gordon, however he didn't got the proper development in the movie. Such a shame.
