The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Questions We Still Want Answered

7. How Come Billionaire Philanthropist Bruce Wayne Wasn't Recognised In That Cafe?

If he's not dead €“ and let's face it, he's probably not €“ the presence of billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne who died the same day a giant nuclear bomb went off outside Gotham in mysterious and unconfirmed fashion in a cafe should probably have raised a few eyebrows. Unless of course we are supposed to believe that nobody recognised one of the world's most famous businessmen who dies the same day... Well, you get the point. It's just too much of a suspension of belief to accept that no-one would identify one of the world's most identifiable men, even in Florence, which has given weight to the argument that Alfred's sighting of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle at the end is no more than the heart-breaking fantasies of a tragic old man whose family has been wiped out despite his best efforts. If you reject that idea outright, you have to still accept that Bruce Wayne's appearance in a public place without any kind of disguise is a little irresponsible, and that the script could have revealed his survival in a cleverer, and less blatant manner with similar success.
