"I will build you and Gotham up with hope and then destroy you." The quote describes it all: the reason for Bane's existence, his love of theatrics, his logic in hope, and his lust for despair. While The Joker began his plans for chaos because he was downright crazy, Bane began his plans because he had a vision. The second third of the movie, where his vision came to fruition, was utterly breathtaking to watch. Bane succeeded in obtaining a controlled chaos, he succeeded in pitting the city against each other, and he succeeded in providing hope for the less fortunate. He was deemed a martyr by the prisoners, but a terrorist by the government. There was no grey area for Bane, he was a man of black and white. All the themes in the movie ultimately led up to Bane: the lower class vs. the upper class (he started off as a henchman only to rise as a warlord), theatricality vs. deception (more on this later), and obviously hope vs. despair (enough said). His voice, his charisma, and his dialogue arguably made him a perfect villain to end this trilogy, until everything came crashing down in the last seven eights of the movie because.....
