The Dark Knight Rises Ending: Why So Serious?
The point that there was no precedent for him leaving Gotham with Catwoman is another issue being had with Batmans finale. Granted its a little cobbled together but the simple matter Bruce seems to enjoy the time he spends with her more than any other, as well as the fact shes another person influenced by the good of Batman makes for it as a logical conclusion in terms of who he runs off with. Also, superhero of Gotham or not, Bruce Wayne is a man just like any other and Selina Kyle in a cat suit is too inviting for anyone to resist. The crowning issue people had with Batmans conclusion was the ascension of a new protector in Gotham, stating that it should be Bruce Wayne, or that Bruce Waynes last action in Gotham should be to end the unrest for good. From a financial point of view, this is impractical as Warner Bros dont want the franchise to die, as well as the fact Bruce Wayne never made himself Gothams soul protector.
