The Dark Knight Trilogy: 10 Moments That Make No Damn Sense

7. The Bit Where No One Really Cares About Harvey Dent

Harvey Dent might be a not very popular character, but Gotham loves him, and Rachel loves him, and everyone else probably does too - or at least they must, or the entire narrative of The Dark Knight Rises wouldn't exactly work. So, why do they repeatedly forget that he€™s been targeted by Joker and that in any moment he could be brutally killed (or kidnapped)?

He is one of the three people whose DNA has been found on the card, and he€™s the only one still alive, and yet his protection is seen as something of an afterthought. The perturbing question arises: why let him march alongside the mayor(who is apparently the next victim and who is later saved by amazing soon-to-be-Commissioner Gordon)? At the memorial no one even cares much about his safety, since everyone acts as if everything€™s going as planned.

To be perfectly honest, Gotham deserved to lose Dent, because they were so lackadaisical about his safety.

That's not the only time either - in the run up to the events that change Dent into Two Face, Rachel appears to be the only person who worries about Dent during his transit, which The Joker is tracking (in a frankly not difficult to predict move.)
