The Dark Knight Trilogy: 18 Cool Behind-The-Scenes Details You Didn't Know

17. Nolan's Initial Pitch To The Studio Was Surprisingly Short

Before Batman Begins, Warner Bros. wasn't throwing money at Nolan like they do today. At this point, he could probably get them to finance one of his movies with nothing more than a single-page story outline, but back then, he had to sell them on his vision for Batman, which meant presenting a pitch to studio executives.

You might expect that a pitch for a major superhero blockbuster would be around 45 - 60 minutes in length, but according to Greg Silverman - one of those aforementioned executives - Nolan's pitch for Batman Begins was only "10 or 15 minutes" long.

Despite its brevity though, the pitch was apparently brilliant. In fact, it was so good that the studio greenlit the movie almost right away.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
