Surprise, surprise, Idris Elba looks like he is absolutely killing the iconic role of Roland Deschain here, both in terms of the character's look and his line delivery.

Even great actors can stumble when it turns out they're not in fact as well-suited for a movie as many expected, but there's no sign of that here: Elba looks the part, sounds the part, and is a totally natural choice for the Gunslinger.

This trailer confirms the widely-held belief among fans that even if everything else in the movie goes wrong, there's probably going to be few wishing to pillory Elba for his work here.

I mean, he shoots a fleeing guy through a window, through a washing line and through a bush: how awesome is that?
