The Death Of Superman Review: 5 Ups & 6 Downs

3. The Forgettable Action Sequences

The Death Of Superman Doomsday
Warner Bros.

Though the climactic slug-fest between the Man of Steel and Doomsday does prove effective enough - albeit only mildly more so than their dull showdown in Batman v Superman - most of the action in this film won't stick with fans long past the end credits.

The aforementioned slack animation certainly does the film no favours, but the liberally-peppered action is for the most part unimaginative, also-ran mayhem without any ingenuity or creativity to it. It just sees Liu once again going through the motions.

Perhaps part of the problem here is that most of the movie is just treading water until that final showdown, but even the added value of temporarily seeing the Justice League flex their collective muscle for a few scenes still doesn't quite hit the tempo you'd hope for.

The action isn't bad as such, just flatly indicative of how easily these films can coast on mediocrity.
