The Devil All The Time Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Brilliantly Suspenseful Third Act

Without going into any spoilers whatsoever, the third act of this thing sure is a doozy.

While it perhaps feels slightly too hurried for its own good - especially compared to the more slow-moving first two reels - it is nevertheless a gut-wrenchingly suspenseful gallop to the finish line for all the characters still left standing.

Given the anything-goes nature of the first two acts, those unfamiliar with the source material are unlikely to have any idea where it's all going, and Campos plays on that fact exceedingly well.

As a payoff to 90 minutes of a steady slow-burn, the more frantic climax ensures the film concludes on quite the unforgettable, even affecting note.
