Fantastic Four: 10 Things That Could Save The Reboot

9. Keep Dr. Doom More "Old School" Than "Ultimates"

The new film appears to be a hybrid of the original and "Ultimate" versions of the Fantastic Four characters. In many ways, the Ultimates story bore improvements over the world that was created in 1961. The Ultimate Dr. Doom, however, was not one of these improvements. In this reboot, Doom (real name, Victor Domashev) is a computer genius. Like in the Ultimates comic, he receives his powers from the N-Zone when he travels there with Reed and company. Hopefully that's where it will end. The original Doom is iconic. He's a polymath, ego-driven dictator who builds his powers through study, determination and by any means necessary. The Ultimates Doom is transformed into living metal. He expels his organs as a poisonous gas. His hands were turned into claws and his feet into hooves. The Iron Man movies have shown that viewers are willing to suspend disbelief for some pretty remarkable technological gadgets. Old school Doom can do likewise. Ultimate Doom...may be a bit much with his rechargeable quills.
